Part II Architectural Assistant at IFDO

IFDO is looking for a Part II Architectural Assistant to join our London studio. 

  

IFDO is an award-winning architecture practice based in London. We create buildings that have a positive impact on users, the environment, and the wider community. Our work spans residential, community, education and civic infrastructure projects, including both new-build and the adaptive reuse of existing structures. We are known for a collaborative, rigorous approach, developing projects from early concept through technical delivery and construction with equal emphasis on design quality and long-term social value. 

  

This is a full-time position for a motivated and design-focused architectural assistant who is eager to take responsibility within projects while working closely with senior team members. You will contribute across all RIBA stages, supporting project delivery from concept through to completion and gaining hands-on experience in both design development and technical coordination. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist in the development of design proposals across all RIBA stages 

  • Produce high-quality 2D drawings using Vectorworks 

  • Create 3D models using SketchUp (Rhino beneficial but not essential) 

  • Prepare presentation visuals and renders using Adobe Creative Suite and Enscape 

  • Produce diagrams, graphics and presentation material 

  • Assist in the preparation of planning and statutory submissions 

  • Support the coordination of consultant information 

  • Contribute to competition entries, EOIs and bid documents 

  • Attend and contribute to meetings with clients, consultants and contractors 

  • Assist with physical model-making and design research 

 

With appropriate support, Part II assistants may lead smaller projects / packages of work through multiple RIBA stages. 

 

Required Skills & Experience 

  • RIBA Part II qualification (or equivalent) 

  • Strong design ability and visual communication skills 

  • Good working knowledge of Vectorworks (preferred) 

  • High level of competency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop 

  • Proficiency in 3D modelling (SketchUp and Enscape essential; rhino experience beneficial) 

  • Strong graphic and diagrammatic skills 

  • Good research and design development capability 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Confident using Microsoft 365 

  • AI literate and interested in integrating emerging tools into architectural workflows
